The new city hall of Täby should be in the continuity of the suburban environment around, like a big house in the city.
The town hall is constructed on the whole plot (38mx55m). Rather than building five levels with a ceiling height of 3m and a central courtyard the project proposes four levels which occupy the entire floor with a ceiling height of 4.60 m. The four levels correspond to four work environments : the Reception on the ground floor is public and belongs to the city ground ; the Workshop is the place where meetings and group work are organized, divided into a multitude of meeting rooms of different sizes ; the Office space in the center consists of open workspaces and individual offices ; the Lounge, farthest away from the public ground is the most individual space of the building, adapted for more informal work, leisure or rest.
Three skylights cut through the building and provide transparency between the different environments and activities. The choice to give each level a working mode allows both flexibility and efficiency. The building is completely flexible yet clearly identified: flexibility lies in the choice, not in the space.
