Engines

For the event «La grande ville 24h chrono» we explored mobility in the large territory of «Confluence Seine Oise», a territory under construction which will play a key role in the Grand Paris development.
The new port Seine-Metropole in Achères (2020) will benefit from a strategic position at the confluence of the Seine (Paris-Le Havre) and Oise (Paris-Antwerp) creating new trading opportunities for the metropolis. The hypothesis of the research was to question existing and future links between «engines» of mobility and the spaces in which they are expected to evolve: engine = territory.
Ten iconic vehicles or transport mediums were selected (barge, 1950’s convertible car, electric car, electric bicycles, containers, buses, etc..). They were respectively associated with major issues of the Grand Paris (the city / port, new jobs and housing, urban logistics, ecology, recreation around the Seine). All engines were exhibited full scale at the port of Achères during the event «La grande ville 24h chrono».
