Blanquefort is a metropolitan village and the site of Andrian possesses both suburban and metropolitan qualities. The aim is to strengthen both the urban image of the site and its intimate individual qualities to create a qualitative living environment that is both city and garden.
The project consists of 40 individual dwellings, 34 collective ones located in an emerging density and a semi underground collective parking.
The emerging density assembles collective units in a compact volume. Inside, each unit operates as an independent home: a simple device of sliding doors offer the possibility to circle around the apartment, just as in a house with garden. The panoramic space of the living room can thus be extended to the whole apartment, depending on the time of day and uses.
The horizontal density consists of two, three and four bedroom units integrated in a flexible system composed of 38 “parcels.” Each plot welcomes a house and a garden. Together, they create a coherent system where each dwelling reacts to the other. The horizontal densities function as garden apartments. The facade principle allow for the entire apartment to become one large terrace where the feeling of being at home but outside guarantees a specific residential quality.
Horizontal and emerging densities form an urban fabric that is integrated in the local context of Blanquefort.
